As AI tools become increasingly capable of transforming images after capture, through relighting, background replacement, look development, and generative scene modification, the conversation is shifting beyond what these systems can do to a more fundamental question:
How much creative control do artists retain?
The session will explore the emergence of controllable AI VFX and hybrid compositing workflows, where traditional visual effects techniques intersect with learned systems. Examining how professionals are navigating questions of lighting control, consistency, creative intent, and authorship.
Topics will include:
- AI-assisted relighting and look development.
- Generative video workflows in production and post-production.
- Hybrid compositing pipelines combining traditional and AI-driven approaches.
- Maintaining consistency across shots and sequences.
- Preserving creative intent throughout the image-making process.
